A while ago, I compiled my dolly wishlist/battleplan for the upcoming year.
I promised myself I wouldn’t get any new doll until the new year, and that I’d only break my dolly fast with one or more of the dolls in my list.
Of course I jumped at the first chance to break the promise and get a head start on my list.

Last weekend I attended “Il Giocattolaio”, a toy&collectible marketplace that is held twice a year in Bologna, where I unexpectedly bumped into the first doll in my wishlist: Sylvie from the Furga Alta Moda line. ♥
Who would have thought I’d got into vintage Italian dolls?
To think Furga was making these beautiful, childish yet super-stylish dolls back in 1968, and today the industry has completely disappeared… how sad.

Anyway. Here’s an extra-quick pic of Sylvie. Hopefully I’ll get to clean her up and fix those lashes next weekend.

One year ago this photo – and more precisely the Astroboy quality of the pose – got me interested in the PukiPuki doll line by the Korean company Fairyland.

I’ve never been particularly fond of tiny ball-jointed dolls in general, but I was instantly sold on the Pukis.
Their excellent posability, the clever use of magnets and the perfect engineering make up for the somewhat commonplace anime design of their face sculpts and concepts (which doesn’t really bother me for once: it fits with the theme, making them look like cutesy chubby anime robots).

One year later Fairyland has announced a new line of dolls called LittleFee – basically, 25cm tall Pukis!

I’ve wanted a bjd in the 25-30cm size range ever since I briefly hosted a friend’s Domuya Potpourri, but so far I couldn’t find one that truly convinced me.
There is plenty of beautiful dolls that size out there, mind you, but for the most part they fail my main requirement for dolls: a sense of humor.
And Pukis do come equipped with lots of it. ^_^
If all goes well, I will get a gigaPuki as a post-Christmas present to myself.
I am particularly fond of this face mold, which looks just like my first Pukipuki. I wonder if the head I like will also be available on a female body?
