Upon suggestion of the one and only Ruth of Eurotrashdoll, I gave Artfire a try.

So far I’m pretty happy with what I’ve seen.
The user interface for listing items for sale is clean and concise, it allows for plenty of images (the resizing adds a lot of noise, but it can be tolerated) and the search engine actually works (learn, etsy!)
I have listed a few pieces of Blythe fashion that survived the Rome doll show: check them out here!
The theme for the April Blythe Runway Challenge was “Alice in Wonderland”.
We were extremely busy all through April, mostly due to the preparations for the Bambole a Roma doll show (more about that in later posts!) and to my trip to Rome to attend the event.
However, team Wererabbit made it to the deadline - in a mad rush!
I chose Tweedledee & Tweedledum as my design inspiration and this is what we came up with:
I think we didn’t do too bad there. :)
I really must thank my mother for doing most of the work in just about three days.
But on to the relevant stuff!
All the entries to the April challenge, including ours, are currently being auctioned on eBay, to benefit AIDS Foundation Houston.
You can bid on the Wererabbit set, “Tweedles”, here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150342639471
Please check it out, it’s for a good cause! Here is a complete listing of the charity auctions: http://donations.ebay.com/charity/charity.jsp?NP_ID=964
The set includes:
•1 bubble skirt in pink rabbit print Japanese fabric
•1 pair of bubble shorts in blue rabbit print Japanese fabric
•2 sailor shirts in white millerighe cotton with pink and blue accents
•2 lined capes matching the shorts and skirt
•2 lined hats matching the shorts and skirt
•1 pair of red tights
•1 pair of yellow stocking with matching lace trim
•1 monstrous crow ;)
Tweedledum and Tweedledee
Agreed to have a battle;
For Tweedledum said Tweedledee
Had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow,
As black as a tar-barrel;
Which frightened both the heroes so,
They quite forgot their quarrel.
Hello blog, long time no see!
A series of job and family related matters kept me away from the internet for a while, but things are finally getting back to normal.
In the meantime, Team Wererabbit (a.k.a. my mother and I) joined the inspiring Blythe Runway Challenge on Flickr.
Each month 25 creative Blythe people will be assigned a new fashion challenge to complete and submit to a panel of judges.
The February challenge involved redesigning a stock Takara outfit. It was a really clever theme for a first challenge, and a lot of fun to work on and to follow on Flickr as contestants progressed to the finished outfits.
Everybody did a great job! You can see a recap of the February entries here.
I chose Fruit Punch as my guinea pig.
After all these years, she’s still one of my favorite Takara Blythes. I love her Twiggiesque short bright hair - and I loved her concept too, in sketch, but the actual outfit didn’t live up to expectations.
Poor FruPu, she really didn’t deserve those ugly blue polyester pants!
I wanted her new design to have a fresh, summery feel and a retro late 60s/early 70s vibe.
We gave her two outfits, like stock Fruit Punch had - a trouser suit and a cocktail dress.
Here are some photos of the finished clothes:
We had some snow on Sunday. I rushed to take some dolly pics while it was still pristine and pretty, before it turned into slush.
Bözsi was really chuffed that she got to wear the lovely Tonttu hat.
She seemes a bit wary of the snow though.
Umeshu went exploring, channelling Smurfette.
My friend Eva made her hat. It matches MRM’s stock coat so well!
After a rather lenghty and worrying wait, courtesy of the infamous Italian postal service, Cyan and Bözsi are home again.
They left for Japan last August, where they got a make over by the brilliant @nai-san. I am so throughly satisfied with how they turned out.
So much so that I couldn’t wait and snapped two quick and rather unflattering pics of them. I can’t wait for the weekend, to play around and take more photos!
Meet the new Bözsi:
…and Cyan:
Cyan is wearing a wig, while she patiently waits for me to start on her reroot. :)
I’ve had an Etsy account for quite a long time now, but I never got around to use it - yet!
I finally moved my lazy bum and populated it this evening.
http://weredollies.etsy.com opens today, with 3 Blythe outfits and one Unoa/Narae/MSDs - please check it out!
The Etsy update includes a viridian green variation of the Romantica dress set I auctioned last summer:
A while ago, I compiled my dolly wishlist/battleplan for the upcoming year.
I promised myself I wouldn’t get any new doll until the new year, and that I’d only break my dolly fast with one or more of the dolls in my list.
Of course I jumped at the first chance to break the promise and get a head start on my list.
Last weekend I attended “Il Giocattolaio”, a toy&collectible marketplace that is held twice a year in Bologna, where I unexpectedly bumped into the first doll in my wishlist: Sylvie from the Furga Alta Moda line. ♥
Who would have thought I’d got into vintage Italian dolls?
To think Furga was making these beautiful, childish yet super-stylish dolls back in 1968, and today the industry has completely disappeared… how sad.
Anyway. Here’s an extra-quick pic of Sylvie. Hopefully I’ll get to clean her up and fix those lashes next weekend.
Last Saturday I met in Bologna with a bunch of friends from the wereLounge forum, for a day of dollie chatter, great food and a brief visit to the Giardini Margherita, a lovely park I hadn’t been to in years.
The day went by way too quickly, but it was really a lot of fun!
Many thanks got to Marta for being such a lovely host.
I enjoy playing with dolls and neglecting blogs.
